A Message from the President:
Spring is almost here, and we have been blessed with a very mild win-ter that made for a shorter and warmer winter construction period. I am sure all of you that have been fortunate enough to have kept busy over the winter months appreciated the weather!
I know it has been doom and gloom everywhere in Alberta with oil prices in the tank and a new gov-ernment that is determined to put more suffering upon us by increasing our taxes and implementing new regulations on industries in Alberta that create the jobs. Unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do except remain positive. I believe oil will come back to a decent price that will enable the in-dustry to sustain a stable balance of smaller growth and profit. When this happens, there should be fewer competitors which will make for steadier work over a longer period of time for the experienced and established companies like GCS that have continually provided their clients with good Quality, Performance and Safety records.
I am confident that we will have a steady year in 2016 as we have already been fortunate enough to be awarded 3 pumping stations as a General Contractor in the Fort McMurray area for Enbridge. These are 6 month long projects that require services from all of our disciplines: Civil, Concrete, Electrical and Mechanical. We have also been very busy in Red Deer bidding a number of other projects that all start in early 2016. I hope to land a few more as we are still in need of more work to ensure everyone has a steady and prosperous 2016.
That is all I know for now. Stay positive, be safe, DO YOUR FLHA’s and be happy the days are get-ting longer and spring is almost here!
