  • The Beginning

    1994

    At 19 years old, Greg Schmidt begins Greg’s Contracting Services Ltd. in his hometown of Hardisty, AB. Starting with small landscape projects and three pieces of equipment, he would later grow his empire exponentially!

  • Hires Employees

    1995

    • Larger projects begin in the local area.
    • Greg’s Contracting Services hires five new employees and has ten pieces of equipment in operation.

  • Red Deer Office Opens

    2005

    • Red Deer office opens
    • Witnessed significant growth in Fort McMurray and other parts of Alberta

  • Procures First Gravel Crusher

    2007

    • Greg’s Contracting Services Ltd. purchases its first gravel crusher
    • First large project awarded; Enbridge Hardisty Merchant Tankage Project
    • Rental and sales division grows to over 150 pieces of heavy equipment

  • Silver TransCanada Keystone Pipeline Vice President’s Award

    2008

    GCS acquired this successful welding & fabrication company in Regina, Saskatchewan, with over ten years’ experience, further broadening our fold of services, in May of 2016.

  • Enbridge Pump Stations

    General contractor on 3 large diameter pumping stations for Enbridge, utilizing every trade and service we offer: mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and concrete; alongside our sub trades, such as: coating, insulating and millwrighting.
