ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY
FIELD REPRESENTATIVE
Position description: To promote positive safety attitudes and safe work practices at GCS worksites across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia.
Terms: Employee or sub-contract, full-time, seasonal, work shift will vary by jobsite.
Qualifications or skills:
- Must have prior civil construction experience.
- Must have current NCSO, OH&S or CRSP designation
- Able to build relationships with site workers, site supervision, subcontractors and clients.
- Capable of working with limited supervision and able to exercise initiative and sound judgment. Possess leadership, team building, and human resource management skills including mediation and conflict resolution.
- Able to travel to and remain at project jobsites as required.
- Have intermediate skills with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Able to articulate complex ideas verbally and in written form.
Responsibilities:
- Reference and follow all rules, policies, and procedures as per the company and client health and safety manual and all other applicable legislation to ensure compliance by all workers at the jobsite.
- Provide visible leadership and commitment to health and safety. Lead by example and teach workers how to perform the tasks safely and efficiently. Address all safety concerns in a timely manner and promote safe work practices and injury/fatality prevention activities.
- Regularly inspect firefighting equipment and worksite for fire hazards and adequate fire protection.
- Participate in and when necessary lead daily tailgate meetings, weekly and monthly safety meetings.
- Perform site orientations for GCS workers, clients and sub-contractors as required.
- Complete and submit all safety related documentation within required timelines.
